Introduction
Why AGRITECH INDIA 2014 ?

Agriculture is undoubtedly the largest livelihood provider in rural India. As we enter a new post WTO Scenario and IT revolution, new inventions are happening day by day in every sphere. Agriculture is not culture now, it is Agri Business! Agriculture constitutes over 25% of India's GDP. In recent years much emphasis has been given by The Ministry of Agriculture on commercializing agricultural production in the country. Adequate production and distribution of food has become a high priority and global concern. In the fast changing world and increasing competition in a globalised economy, there is a need for exploiting the available resources to the maximum level and use of best technologies available world over, to cope up with domestic demand of food and also to target export market.

This will be particularly relevant in South India, where farmers grow a number of crops, but have technical constraints in enhancing production and productivity because of inadequate exposure to high technology & inputs coupled with advanced production practices, logistics and marketing. In addition, shortage of labour is a major concern for progressive farmers of South India who are ready to offer more wages to labourers. Therefore, they are forced to become machinery-dependant in their farm operations. As a result, South India is emerging as one of the hottest destinations as well as a strong market with buying potential for farm machinery and equipment. In order to introduce latest mechanization & technological innovations, AgriTech India 2014 is proved to be an ideal platform to launch your products & services among thousands of farmers & agro entrepreneurs to throng this expo.

Govt. Policies and Programmes :

New technological advances in agricultural practices have become all the more important against the backdrop of a series of programmes that have been launched by the Government of India to attain 4 per cent annual growth in agriculture and to double the production of horticulture crops during the ongoing twelfth five-year plan. The main thrust of all these programmes is on taking Indian agriculture to greater heights of excellence through spread of latest technology and modern practices on-farm and off-farm that would cover pre and post harvest activities, marketing and exports.

Global Scenario of Agriculture/Farm Mechanization :

The BRICS Nations i.e. Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa along with Japan and Turkey are joining the ranks of heavy weight agricultural machinery markets.

According to UNACOMA, India and China were confirmed in 2011 as the countries with the greatest take-up of tractors with sales of 430,000 and 400,000 units respectively in the power categories over 30 hp and not counting the vast numbers of self-propelled machinery. Europe was shifted to become second world market at 136,000 tractors ahead of the United States at 84,000 units with the arrival of new and important majors on the scene.

FederUNACOMA President Massimo Goldoni, the head of the manufacturers' federation, told a press conference in Bologna, “The countries reporting the best markets trends for agricultural machinery are those showing the positive economic trends and are thus given possibilities for installing specific support policies for agriculture and mechanization.” The figures for Europe and the USA confirm the close relationship between general economic conditions and the mechanization market with growth in tractor sales in the more economically solid countries like India and China. Hence India has emerged as New Agricultural Machinery Mega Market. After the grand success of our 5th AgriTech India 2013, where besides India, companies participated from 26 countries, we, Media Today Group are organizing the 6th edition of AgriTech India 2014 during 22nd to 24th August 2014 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bangalore, India, which is going to pump in more value additions to the existing technology from all over the world.
