Introduction
It is with great pleasure that the European Dairy Association EDA, ASSIFONTE and the Association of the German Dairy Industry (MIV) invite you to attend the EDA / ASSIFONTE Annual Congress 2013 to be held in Cologne from 25th to 28th September.

Besides the various EDA/Assifonte internal meetings, the World Dairy Forum will be also this year the main event during the Congress. The WDF 2013 will provide a high-level programme tailored to the current debate on Sustainable Dairy: developments with respect to sustainable food, the way to measure and communicate on sustainability and analyses into the economic, social and environmental aspects of sustainability in the dairy supply chain. The issue of sustainability is on everyone's lips, and the customers of the dairy industry push for concrete solutions. Many institutions are working on the subject at the national and international level. We want to discuss this set of items with you and we hope to give you some guidance for solutions.

Attending this Congress will not only provide you with an update on key dairy subjects, but also give you the opportunity to meet colleagues and expand your network.

Cologne is the largest city on the Rhine, and the economic, historical and cultural capital of North Rhine Westphalia. Cologne owes its status not least to the location on one of the main trade routes between East and West Europe. But the city has more to offer than colognes' water: the Catholic dominated Cologne shines with an incredible number of museums, churches, impressive buildings and events.

Whether by air, rail, land or water - all roads lead to Cologne! Choose the ideal way. The Cologne-Bonn Airport is served by more than 130 destinations in Germany and abroad. With excellent speedy connectivity, you can take a train quickly into the cathedral city in the heart of Europe. By car you can reach Cologne on many European motorways and can easily switch to one of the park-and-ride spaces for public transport. Of course, you can also dock conveniently by boat in the Rhine metropolis.

The venue of the Congress is the Marriott Hotel. It is a comfortable hotel with an international ambience, excellent meeting facilities, a bar for after dinner meetings and parking facilities. We have been able to negotiate attractive room tariffs, so all participants can be lodged under one roof.

The social programme will make sure that you get a taste of the historical centre of Cologne. Furthermore, the excursion on Saturday will take you to the famous castle Burg Drachenfels.
