While the growth rate of the international market is only 1% -2% over the same period. In 2008, the growth of domestic wine consumption is alarming, which increased by 55% from January to May to grow over 40% on year-on-year basis. At the same time, the growth of imported wine remains more than 40% to 50% each year with the annual consumption growth of domestic wine market reaching 70% in 2011 and its retail scale reaching 60 billion to 70 billion, which is expected to exceed 90 billion in 2013 and double to 200 billion 5 years later. China's wine consumption volume has surpassed UK to become world's fifth-largest wine-consuming country. It can be seen that there exists huge developing potential for China's wine market! The wine industry is in a steady increase of its golden period, so wine investment will surely become a mainstream trend. Statistics show that wine consumption in Yangtze River Delta region accounts for 1/3 of that over the whole country, of which, the wine consumption of Zhejiang has an increasing rate of over 80%. Hangzhou, a city of high consumption, Wenzhou, a city with richest commercial resources, and Ningbo, a city with most outstanding achievements in the development of bonded port area, are all cities of Zhejiang Province. Besides, other cities of Zhejiang such as Shaoxing and Huzhou are entering a phase of rapid wine development. According to the data provided by Zhejiang Hotel Industry Association, wine accounted for 50% of alcoholic drinks on dining tables in 2011, and it has gradually become the most popular alcoholic beverage by Zhejiang People with the best wine market here for domestic consumption! It is also the first choice of commercial place in China for foreign vintners. All these advantages will be a solid foundation for the market development of domestic and overseas vintners!
