Hosting the first ever West Africa Hospitality and Food Fair in Accra, Ghana this year is very much opportune. This is so because of the many opportunities that the oil and gas “find” presents to the hospitality and food sectors. By bringing together exhibitors from across the sub region to showcase a variety of innovative products and services, the door will be opened for the sharing of knowledge and experiences, and for business transactions amongst sister countries.
The Institute of Packaging, Ghana is proud to be associated with the West Africa Hospital and Food Biz Fair because the event will bring to the fore the many benefits of food packaging for the development of the hospitality industry. In an era where a majority of African countries including Ghana are experiencing 40% post harvest losses due to poor processing, packaging and distribution technologies, an event such as this will help to expose patrons to the need to present their exotic foods and beverages in the form that will attract tourists to the sub region.
The effective packaging and presentation of our indigenous foods and beverages could entice tourists to “taste and see the goodness therein” leading to the creation of strong brands and the basis for tourist attraction. For patrons and exhibitors, the IOPG encourages them to participate fully and cease the opportunities presented by the event to create new businesses and grow existing ones.
