This upcoming September 14-16, 2013 marks the 11th anniversary of the Miami International Wine Fair – one of the leading wine trade shows in the United States. Off the heels of a very successful 11th anniversary in 2012, this year anticipates to see thousands of visitors from around the country, including distributors from every state, major retail chains and a vast number of local restaurateurs / independent wine shops all in search of exciting products to add to their portfolios. Conversely, an estimated 300 wineries representing 16 countries from around the world - seeking new wholesale channels to sell their wines - are expected to exhibit.
America’s love affair with wine continues, surpassing in some states the average per capita consumption of some European countries. While the average national intake is still at a low 11 liters per capita, states like Florida, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois, California and Washington are drinking in excess of 15 liters per capita and close to 20 in some cases.
The $30 billion-strong United States wine industry is controlled by a handful of large corporations, but the rise of new players is coming into its prime. Americans are embracing diversity and playing a paramount role is quality, packaging and value for the dollar. Now is the chance to make your brand known. Regardless of country of origin, varietal, style or price point, there is a market for it in America.
The Miami International Wine Fair provides the perfect platform to meet real buyers seeking new products to represent. Last year alone more than 150 importers, distributors and retail chains from 50 states participated in the "Buyers' Program", which guaranteed exhibitors over 2,000 pre-scheduled meetings with qualified, pre-selected buyers.
Exhibitors saw an increased presence from France, Spain, Italy, Argentina and Chile - making up nearly 80 percent of the Fair grounds. Wineries from South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Portugal, Brazil, Canada and California also benefited from the little competition they found in their respective categories. Overall, participating producers expressed a 95% customer satisfaction rate, the highest in MIWF's history and a difficult target to achieve for trade shows in any sector.
