The National Heirloom Exposition is a not-for-profit event centered around the pure food movement, heirloom vegetables, and anti-GMO activism. Our second annual event held mid-September 2012 in Santa Rosa, California drew more than 14,000 people from around the country and beyond. With more than 100 speakers and 300 natural food vendors, the event was the largest gathering in pure food history! The Heirloom Expo has gained incredible interest among home growers, farmers, school groups and the general public–so much so that it is being called the “World’s Fair of Pure Food”!
We are happy to announce that the dates for next year’s event have already been set for September 10, 11, and 12, 2013 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, California. We would like to thank everyone for their support in 2012 and hope all of you can join us again in 2013 for what is sure to be an even bigger and better event.
Come and enjoy the largest pure food exhibit in the country!
Come and see thousands of produce varieties! Dozens of garden and agricultural exhibits are slated for the 2013 Exposition. Mac Condill of The Great Pumpkin Patch and Homestead Seeds will again bring an incredible collection of pumpkins, squash and gourds for the massive display. We are also proud to have our Giant Pumpkin contest affiliated with the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth, who will sanction the weigh-off. Last year we had pumpkins approaching 1,400 pounds!
Thousands of varieties of produce will be on exhibit, and many will also be judged and awarded prizes of cash and/or ribbons. We encourage growers to bring their biggest, prettiest, and tastiest tomatoes for display. Watermelons and other vegetable types will be categorized according to entries received. We will have categories for displaying every type of heirloom vegetable imaginable: eggplant, radish, onion, squash, cabbage, cucumber, garlic, beans and many more.
Many fruit categories will be displayed and possibly judged: apples, pears, berries, etc., as well as tropical and citrus fruits. California Rare Fruit Growers will exhibit rare fruit varieties. Other categories will include nuts, herbs, eggs, mushrooms, and whatever else you may grow. Kitchen arts include various categories such as honey, maple syrup, sorghum syrup, eggs, jams and jellies, pickles and preserves, olive oil, baked goods and miscellaneous other categories to be displayed and judged if participation warrants it.
We will have various categories for non-edibles. Bring your flowers and floral arrangements; old time tools, memorabilia, or machinery. Many types of art, including paintings, crafts, quilts, jewelry, photography, and many more will be displayed.
Don’t forget the hundreds of historic poultry that will be exhibited and judged, as well as the livestock exhibits and contests that will include many historic, heritage and pure breeds.
You won’t want to miss America’s largest exhibit of heirloom produce: a celebration of pure, non-GMO food and farming.
