The development of Private Label has become a hot topic due to intensive competition in the retailing industry. Private Label System for supermarket has been well-established in the western countries and is favoured by many retailing companies, especially chain supermarkets.
However, Private Label in China is still in an early stage and has a long way to go.
To accelerate the development of Private Label in China, the Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA), together with Shanghai International Sourcing Promotion Centre (ISPC) proudly present 2013 Shanghai Private Label Fair - a platform for both retailers and suppliers.
What is Private Label?
Private label products encompass all merchandise sold under a retailer`s brand. That brand can be the retailer`s own name or a name created exclusively by that retailer. The private label have dramatically changed the old retailing mode in China.
Trend
Private labels provide manufacturers with a cost-efficient way to enter into retail stores, especially for the small and medium size manufacturers. It gives manufacturers a way to save the advertising and marketing expenses and to make higher profit margins. Private labels reveal unique growth characteristics across the world. Its market share reached 30% worldwide but only 5% in China. Although private labels is still at an early stage in China, but it shows a growth momentum in retailing. Based on the prediction and the strategic plan of some top Chinese retailers, Private labels in China trend upward 20% in 2013.
